Remember a while back when I wrote about Harold Camping and his prediction that the world was gonna end on May 21st? Well, if you do and you're reading this, then you obviously weren't Raptured, you heathen. But then again, neither was Harold Camping. So, what did he do when the world didn't end? Did he accept the Bible's own teachings when it said "But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only."?
Haha, you silly goose! That would require logical thought and an acceptance that one cannot predict the future based on the writings of people over 2,000 years ago who wanted a set of rules to get their people to straighten up and fly right.
No, rather than reexamine his faith, or instead of rereading his book and finding that irritating little passage of Matthew 24:36 quoted above and just accepting that what will be will be, he went back and yanked a new date for the end of the world out of his ass.
October 21st.
Yeah, kids. Seems Camping is back with a new date and not surprisingly, it is in the near future: October 21st. Tomorrow.
I think I've gained an insight into the mind of this man. He isn't really looking forward to the end of the world, Rapture or paradise. He is very old and doesn't want to accept his own mortality. It is something I pity.

End of the World Today...Maybe!
Ahh, it just tickles me when people think they can predict the rapture. And it's always in a time frame that is close enough to be easily disproved. In this case, I'm talking about Harold Camping who has convinced himself and others that the world will end on May 21st, 2011. It just so happens to be today. I've been keeping a passing eye on this for a few months now, just mostly just so I can point and giggle at the people who'll actually buy this.
As it turns out, according to NPR, this isn't the first time Camping has predicted the end of the world. The last time he stuck his foot in his mouth was when he predicted September 6th, 1994 was gonna be Judgement Day. Did that make him crawl under a rock and hide in shame? Ha, no, of course not. It just means he made a mistake and that his calculations were off and blah blah blah.
But all that aside, you know what really, really tickles me? That these people don't even read their own Bible enough to know what it says, otherwise they'd hit on this little passage:
"But of that day and hour knoweth no [man], no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only." - Matthew 24:36 KJB
Of course, if reading the Bible actually meant anything to these people, they'd have hit this little gem indicating the rapture already happened.
"But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God." - Luke 9:27 KJB
Seriously, people, stop ignoring your own holy text and stop trying to predict the end of the world when it tells you itself that it can't be done.

Told ya so.
